The Masa Makor Schechter Institute program aims to give young people in Latin America the opportunity to share a Masorti Jewish experience in Israel for 5 months, whilst combining Jewish study of a high academic standard, with in-depth insertion into Israeli society and touring in Israel.
The program is open to young people aged 18 and up from all over the Latin American Jewish community.
Program Structure :
♦ 3 months of Hebrew study (ulpan) at Masorti Kibbutz Ketura, in the Arava (Southern Israel).
♦ 2 months of Jewish studies at the Schechter Institute, in Jerusalem. The curriculum will include : Ulpan; Liturgy; Eretz Israel and Zionism; Introduction to Jewish Sources; Jewish Thought; Modern Philosophy.
♦ Twice weekly volunteer work in different Masorti Kehillot projects in Jerusalem and the surrounding area.
♦ Tiyulim (trips) in different regions of Israel, including visits to archeological sites, cultural events, and various ways of exploring the country.
♦ Accommodation in Jerusalem will be in student dormitories, where participations will live with other students from around the world, adding a truly global element to this unique program.
